How Top 10 US companies looked when they first started

Almost everyone is familiar with the Top 10 US companies right now but only a few have seen their journey from the very beginning. No doubt these giants post great numbers quarter on quarter but as a layman or as an entrepreneur who is willing to start such a business it becomes critically important to see how these giants started their journey, what all logos they used, how their websites looked when they first started and all the other factors which landed them on the Forbes list of US Top 10. Below are few of the giants and how their presence over the internet was when they first started.

1. APPLE

We all know that Apple Inc. the tech giant started from a small garage in California so it is pretty obvious not to expect a fancy website as well. Below is a screenshot.

Apple

This screenshot is from 1999 when Apple started to commercialize and have finally launched Macintosh as their flagship product.

Although Apple started in 1977, yet no digital presence of the company could be observed until 1996. Below is the first-ever website screenshot of apple, even before they started focusing the company to the tech sector, in short when they were clueless and used the domain for no specific reason except for selling some Apple made printers and hardware.

Below is the screenshot when Apple was nowhere near to what it is today.

Appl

One can clearly observe how at the time the website was focused towards news and product updates of the company only, unlike today where they have all their products on the website for sale and almost every information is available on the tip of the fingers.

2. AMAZON

AMAZON is one of the biggest retail marketplace in the world right now with presence all around the world.

This screenshot was taken in 1999. Clearly, we can see that the website emphasizes on books and CDs rather than products as it does today.

3. WALMART

Walmart

You can see the old Walmart logo there.

4. BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY

Hathaway

You will be surprised to know that Berkshire Hathaway’s website looks exactly the same in 2020 than it looked in 2004 when this screenshot was taken. Although, it’s nothing strange keeping in mind it is owned by the one who still lives in the same house he used to do years ago.

5. FACEBOOK

Facebook or ‘The Facebook’ as they mentioned at that time.

For now, we have restricted ourselves to 5 companies only, with better response from your side, we will be posting new articles with more companies. Till then, subscribe for our new articles.
