How blue chips RIL, SBI, TCS and rest looked in the nineties

We all have seen the extravagant blue-chips Reliance ( RIL ), SBI, TCS, HUL, HDFC Bank in today’s 2000’s era but how exactly did they look when they started having a hold on the markets and people’s heart?

As an extension to our previous article ‘How top 10 US companies looked when they first started’, we present to you all with an Indian version of the same. Below is a look of how the blue chips of the Indian markets and their websites looked in the late nineties and early twenties.

1. Reliance Industries (www.ril.com)

Reliance

RIL or Reliance Industries is currently headed by Mr Mukesh Ambani, the richest person in the whole of Asia. Without a doubt, his company reliance industries which was started by his father Mr Dhirubhai Ambani emphasised upon transparency towards its investors and the public. You can see in this snapshot taken somewhere in 1998 how the company has released its result along with the chairman’s statements.

2. State Bank of India / SBI (www.sbi.co.in)

State Bank of India

State bank of India is the number one public sector bank in India. It had a basic yet effective website in 2001 when this screenshot was taken. One can see the different areas in which the bank catered its services.

3. Tata Consultancy Services / TCS (www.tcs.com)

TATA Consultancy

TCS is one of the top firms when it comes about the tech segment of Indian markets. With a huge number of employees, TCS has always been into multiple sectors. This screenshot taken in the year 2000 shows TCS giving their services to banking, healthcare and other sectors.

4. Hindustan Unilever Limited / HUL (www.hul.co.in)

Hindustan Uniliver

Although, this screenshot is from 2005, still one can observe how basic the website was. Currently, the website is filled with different products and brands that they offer for the consumers.

5. ITC

the ITC

ITC has been for years associated with one major line of product only. However, this screenshot from 2001 shows their presence in hotels, packaging, paperboards and many other different areas. This is what makes ITC a diversified business.
